Gulf Dirt Track Challenge
Round 2 :: Jodhpur :: 18-19 Sept 2004

JODHPUR: This is the destination that the lubricant major, Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd has selected to stage its 2nd round of Gulf  Dirt Track Challenge. The Gulf Dirt Track Challenge series which is been organised by Sportscraft in association with Apex Society –Jodhpur under the aegis of Federation of  Motor Sports Club of India is the effort of Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd. to take motor sports to the masses and to grow motor sport in the country.

The Gulf Dirt Track Challenge is scheduled for the 18th & 19th September 2004 and will be held at the Polo Ground, Panch Bathi Circle, Ratanda , Jodhpur -342 001.

Dirt Track is the discipline of 2 –wheeler racing which is conducted on an open ground. This has a mass start on a grid of 15 vehicles. This event is open to motorcycles and scooters.

Dirt Track is thrilling and challenging yet not so expensive to participate. In Gulf Dirt Track Challenge anybody can participate as it involves knowing the basics in two wheeler riding.

The presence of top riders representing leading two wheeler manufacturers will be seen competing in the races and exhibiting their talent and skill in the high level competition.

The prize money at stake is huge with the winners taking home around Rs. 70,000 and trophies.

Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd., which is the 2nd largest private sector company in the Indian Lubricants market has now emerged as a strong player in the motor sports arena continuously sponsoring many  motor racing events, amongst them being the Gulf Dirt Track Challenge, Gulf Autocross, Gulf Monsoon Scooter Rally and also Gulf Foster-A-Child Rally. Besides these events GULF OIL Corporation Ltd., also sponsors well-known racing drivers who participate at rallies organised by Motor Sports Association of India (MAI) Indian National Rally Championship. Gulf Oil Corporation provides the necessary lubricants required to enhance the performance of the participant’s vehicles.

According to a Gulf Oil Corporation Executive Director Mr. V Ramesh, “The events are being organised in order to inculcate a riding discipline among two-wheeler riders as also to give them a chance to enjoy the thrill of racing and display their riding skills in a safe environment, without the fear of injury or getting hurt”.

The event will start at 08:30 am on 19th. On 18th September 2004, scrutiny and qualifying will take place from 9.00 a.m. onwards. It is more or less a dress rehearsal for the event proper to be held the next day. A maximum of 30 entries per classification – modified and unmodified vehicles in various categories- will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. A participant can enter a maximum of three classes out of eleven classes for which races will be held.

Gulf Dirt Track Challenge is open to scooters and motorcycles. These are further divided in various classes as per their cubic capacity (c.c.). The motorcycle class will be further divided to stock and modification. There will be a separate class of foreign motorcycles too.

The last date for standard entries is 13TH September 2004 till 17:00 hrs and for late is 15th September2004 till 13:00hrs.
