8th National Racing Championship 2005
Round 4:: Chennai :: 30th - 31st July 2005

Chennai, July 27: The MMSC Track in Irrungattukottai near Chennai promises another weekend of racing thrills as the fourth leg of the JK Tyre National Racing Championship 2005 gets underway here on Sunday 31st July. The qualifying races will be held on Saturday.

With over 45 ace drivers of the country battling it out for the prestigious title of the year in the three categories - Esteem, Formula Maruti (FISSME) and Formula LGB, the two-day event is slated to be an exciting fiesta of adrenalin; more so when the top three in the premium Formula Maruti and Formula LGB categories are separated by very close points.

In the Formula Maruti category, it is a neck-to-neck competition between Amitrajit Ghosh who leads the category at 50 points, followed by Gaurav Dalal in the second place at 46 points and Rayomand Banajee in the third place at 41 points.

The battle is equally torrid in the Formula LGB category with Ameya Walavalkar in the lead at 51 points, followed by Sarosh Hataria in the second place at 44 points and Rayomand Banajee in the third place at 36 points.

In the Esteem category, Ayub Khan takes the lead at 66 points with 6 out of 6 wins, while K E Kumar at 40 points is a distant second followed by Radha Selvaraj in the third place at 31 points. While the gap of 26 points with his closest competitor assures Ayub Khan of holding on to the championship lead irrespective of his performance in the fourth leg, it remains a decisive call for Kumar and Selvaraj.

The races will commence at 10 am.

Entry for the public is free.
