8th National Racing Championship 2005 Round 6:: Chennai :: 01- 02 October 2005 Qualification : 01 October 2005 Sarosh, Aditya Patel, Gaurav Dalal & K.E Kumar grab pole

The 6th leg of the 8th J K Tyre National Racing Championship 2005 got off once again to a blazing start with over 33 competitors fighting it out to grab the pole positions in the various classes at the MMST Track at Irrungattukottai near Chennai.

A brilliant driving stint from Sarosh Hataria saw him taking the pole with championship leader Rayomand Banajee being pushed to 5th place in the 1st qualifying race of the Formula LGB category. Sarosh lapped the fastest with a timing of 02:00:043 followed by Ameya who had a timing of 02:00:215. In 3rd place was Gaurav Gill with a timing of 02:00:313.

Race 2 saw Aditya Patel grab the pole with a timing of 01:09:606. Ameya Walavalkar took the 2nd slot with a timing of 01:09:875 while Sarosh Hataria had to settle for the 3rd place having timed 01:09:924. Rayomand once again finished in 5th place.

Formula Maruti category saw Gaurav Dalal taking the pole as he drove the fastest lap in the first qualifying race with a timing of 02:08:109. Aditya Patel came up once again with a good effort to clinch the 2nd place while championship leader Amittrajit Ghosh finished 3rd. Aditya had a timing of 02:08:229 while Amittrajit timed 02:08:828. Rayomand Banajee who is running 2nd in the championship had a poor outing and had to settle for the 8th place.

Race 2 saw a repeat performance from Gaurav Dalal enabling him to grab his second pole of this week’s races as he lapped the fastest timing of 01:13:912. Finishing 2nd was Sudanand Rajan with a timing of 01:13:975 while another promising youngster Aditya Patel took the 3rd position on the grid having timed 01:14:024.

In the first qualifying race for the Esteem category championship leader Ayub Khan fiinished in 2nd place after yet another commanding performance from veteran K.E.Kumar who clinched the pole with the fastest lap timing of 02:09:504. Upcoming youngster Ashwin Sunder took the third place with a timing of 02:10:396.

Race 2 saw K. E. Kumar in full swing as he cruised to his second successive pole with a lap timing of 01:15:081. Finishing second once again with a timing of 01:15:479 was championship leader Ayub Khan. Coming up in 3rd place was B. Vijaya Kumar who timed 01:15:647.

One race in the Esteem category which was scheduled for today has been rescheduled for tomorrow. The races will now commence at 10 am on Sunday and not as earlier announced.
