SYED EATHASHYAM – GULF RIDER OF THE YEAR
On 13th March 2005 Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd staged its fifth and final round of Gulf Dirt Track Challenge at Coimbatore.
A record number of participants in their gleaming riding gears lured the motor-sporting enthusiasts at the VOC Ground where the event was held. The spectators who came to cheer the participants and to see the dare devils on the wheels were thrilled.
The event was flagged off by Shree M Srinivas, Additional commissioner central excise.
The event was organized by Sportscraft – Mumbai in association with Coimbatore Auto Sports club under the aegis of the Federation of Motor sports Clubs of India (FMSCI - Chennai).
All eyes were set on the Yamaha team & TVS Team and their bikes and sure the spectators were not disappointed.

As the first race of the modified vehicle was on, the spectators stormed to see the performance. Dust and heat of the desert did not dissuade them. However when the riders raced on their Foreign motorcycles the spectators were amazed at the speed and skills and cheered the participants. The event was concluded before 12:00 noon and was organised with efficiency and clockwise precision. There were a lot of praises by the locals for Gulf, Sportscraft and its team. The event kept up to their expectations and hoped that more such events would be organized in their city.
In the motorcycles
above 80cc Upto 150cc Group B Class – 2 Strokes Mr. Sayed Eahasham of
Yamaha Racing Team won with 189 points followed by Mr. Shiva Kumar of Yamaha
Racing Team with 166 points .
In the foreign motorcycles upto 250cc group A again Mr. Syed Eathasham won with
193 points followed by Shiva Kumar with 156 points while in the motorcycle above
110cc upto 250cc Group ‘ B ’ four – stroke event, H K Pradeep
of TVS Team won on a TVS Fiero.
Special classes in 2 & 4 stroke Motorcycles were formed to promote local
competitors. Mr.P Ramesh Kumar & Mr.D Sivaji were declared winners in the
respective classes of 2 & 4 stroke classes and Mr. S Arun & Mr.R Prakash
were declared as runner ups in the respective 2 & 4 stroke classes.
