It was a different scenario on the Polo Ground, when the riders from all over India had accumulated to strive for the honors. All dressed in their safety riding gear was a pleasure and thrill for the spectator who had come to cheer them. Total number of 109 entries was received. This was the fifth and final round of Championship. The first four rounds were held at Mangalore, Chennai, Raipur and Nasik.
This prestigious event was sponsored by Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd and organised by Sportscraft in association with Apex Society , the fifth & final leg in a series of five legs, was held under the aegis of the FMSCI.
His Highness – Maharaja Gaj Singhji flagged of the Gulf Dirt Track National Championship at 9:00 a.m.
Some of the best riders of the country participated. Professional riders from TVS Racing Team added glamour to the show, exhibiting their skills at high speeds, their braking ability over bends and controlling their machines superbly in the slush. Besides these professionals, a participant from Australia, Mr. Maninder Singh (Indian origin) had specially flown down for the event to participate on his KTM SXF 250 cc, there were also experts from Bangalore, Pune, Nashik and Mumbai who put up an excellent show.
As the event took off there was lots of applauding from the crowd, as they were thrilled to see the spectacular event and a great competition. As much as the spectators enjoyed, the competitors were more charged competing and gave excellent performance.
Overall, there were 12 classes. In the (Indian Expert Class) foreign two- wheeler category, H.K. Pradeep of TVS Racing on his TVS 250 X grabbed 37 points. He was followed by Karan Kadam and C.D Jinan who received 33 & 32 points, respectively.
Rustom Patel of Mumbai on his TVS Shogun in the Motorcycle above 80cc upto 150cc group B (Private Expert Class) and Hafeez Rehman of TVS Racing amongst the Novice riders, proved the best. Bhalla Ram proved a cut above all in Local class.

Thakker from Pune was fastest on his Kinetic in the
Scooter upto 110cc class. His control and speed in this category
was remarkable.
The spectators were totally entertained and went back cheering the daredevils
and few wished that they were part of it.
Mr. Bijoy Paul Sr. Mktg. Manager of Gulf Oil Corp. Ltd gave away the prizes. During the occasion he said that; , “The events are being organised in order to inculcate a riding discipline among two-wheeler riders as also to give them a chance to enjoy the thrill of racing and display their riding skills in a safe environment, without the fear of injury or getting hurt”.
The Gulf Dirt Track National Championship was divided in various groups giving a fair chance to all to participate and win. These consisted of Novice Class, Private class, Expert Class, Foreign Expert & Indian Expert. These were further divided as per the cubic capacity of the motorcycles
The points of all the 5 rounds accumulated by the riders in their respective classes are added to declare the Gulf Dirt Track National Champion of the Year. Cash awards to the tune of 2.50 lakhs will be disbursed amongst the first three positions in each class.
There was a tie in Championship hence the rule of tie breaker had to be applied.
The event was organised to the precision. The credit goes to Mr. Shrikant Karani of Sportscraft for his detailed work to make this event a great success.
It is the second year in succession that The Gulf Dirt Track National Championship has been staged. An event nurtured by the Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd., which is the 2nd largest private sector company in the Indian Lubricants market . In India, Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd., has now emerged as a strong player in the motor sports arena continuously sponsoring many motor racing events, amongst them being the Gulf Dirt Track National Championship, Gulf Autocross, Gulf Monsoon Scooter Rally and also Gulf Foster-A-Child Rally – for 4 wheelers.
