Gaurav Gill & Saran Vikram stole the thunder with double wins in the Formula LGB Hyundai and Formula LGB Swift on race day of the inaugural leg of the J K Tyre National Racing Championship which were held earlier today.

It was a riot of colours on a bright and sunny day in resort like settings of the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore with the new and gleaming machines of Indian Formula racing making their debut in the 1st leg of the JK Tyre National Racing Championship. With the launch of these high speed vehicles, Indian formula car racing has moved up to higher levels of motor racing matching international standards.

Race 1 of the day was in the Formula LGB Swift category. Chennai lad and pole leader Saran Vikram of Team Wallace Sports capitalized on a good start to move ahead and build up a comfortable lead to notch up his first win of the championship. Finishing a far 2nd and 3rd were Mumbai driver Saahil Shelar and veteran racer from Coimbatore C.Rajaram respectively. Race 2 saw Saran Vikram continuing his dominance with yet another exhilarating display of speed as he raced away to grab his 2nd successive win. His nearest rival Ajay Kini was trailing him by almost 10 seconds. And once again it was a podium finish for the veteran racer from Coimbatore who finished third.

Rally champion and new driving sensation Delhi boy and Team Wallace Sport’s Gaurav Gill came up with a stunning performance in Race 1 of the Formula LGB Hyundai category which had the good crowd spell bound. Coming up with a display of extremely fast and skilled driving, Gill built up a very comfortable lead to completely demolish his rivals. Finishing a far second was Pune Racer Rayomand Banajee. The fascinating duel between the two young boys Ashwin Sunder and Ajay Kini for the 3rd place captivated the viewers till misfortune struck Ashwin in the last lap as he spun out and in the process enabling Ajay Kini to finish third. Race 2 saw yet another commanding performance from Guarav Gill who did not give his rivals an iota of chance to near him. A fascinating duel between Ajay Kini and Rayomand Banajee kept the spectators enthralled. Both kept changing positions before the experienced Rayomand ultimately prevailed to finish second. Ajay Kini despite a fighting effort had to settle for third place.
