Saran Vikram took pole positions in the qualifiers for race 1 and race 2 in the Formula LGB Swift category. Saran Vikram had the fastest lap timings of 01:12:706 & 01:12:610 respectively. The qualifying races for the Formula LGB Hyundai class will be held on Sunday morning as the drivers have asked for more practice time.

The new racing machines Formula LGB Hyundai and Formula LGB Swift were the cynosure of all eyes today as the qualifying races of the first round of the J K Tyre National Racing Championship 2006 got underway at the Kari Motor Speedway earlier today.

Both the categories have a mix of the young and the old. The younger racers have shown the inclination for more speed while the veterans have pooled in all their experience to display their driving skills. Formula LGB Hyundai class will see youngsters like Ashwin Sunder, Arvind Srinivasan, Ajay Kini and Rayomand Banajee matching wits with veteran racers B.Vijay Kumar, P.Vetrivel, not to forget the 58 old rally veteran from Agra - Har Vijay Bahia. Featuring in Formula LGB Swift races are amongst others are Ajay Kini and Saran Vikram who were the toppers in the JK Tyre Junior Cup championship which was held in Chennai earlier this year.

The races for the premium category Formula Rolon has been postponed as the wheel rims consignment which had been shipped from UK did not arrive in time, thereby not giving enough time for testing the high speed racing cars. Hence on grounds of safety, the organizers decided to postpone. The six round 12 race championship in this category will be back on schedule by running one additional race each in the next two rounds.

The main races will commence at tomorrow (Sunday) at 11 am.
