JK Tyre National Racing Championship Gaurav Gill, Rayomand Banajee & Saran Vikram in command |
Chennai:
It will be past midway stage of the J K Tyre National Racing Championship
2006 with the stage getting set for the fourth leg this weekend at
the MMST track in Irrungattukottai near Chennai.
Gaurav Gill heads the championship table in the Formula Rolon Chevrolet class
at the end of the 2nd leg while Rayomand Banajee and Saran Vikram lead in the
Formula LGB Hyundai and Formula LGB Swift categories at the end of the 3rd leg.
It will be the 3rd leg for the participants in the Formula Rolon Chevrolet category.
Gaurav Gill of Team Wallace Sports leads in the championship having piled up
41 points followed by Gaurav Dalal of Team Prime Racing with 27 points. Akbar
Ebrahim of Team NK Racing is in third place with 25 points. With 4 legs still
to go in this category, the championship is still wide open. While Gill needs
to consolidate, good and consistent performances are required from Dalal and
Akbar to put them in the reckoning.
In the Formula LGB Swift class Saran Vikram of Team Wallace Sports is ahead
in the championship table having notched up total of 53 points. It will now
be a 3-way fight for the 2nd & 3rd places between Ajay Kini of Wallace Sports,
Rajaram of Prime Racing and Saahil Shelar of Rams Racing who have 39, 33 and
32 points respectively.
Rayomand Banajee of Team Meco has a comfortable lead in Formula LGB Hyundai
category having totalled 54 points so far. Ajay Kini of Wallace Sports is in
2nd place with 37 points and is followed by Sudarshan Rao of Rams Racing with
26 points. Also in the reckoning for a championship podium finish are veteran
racer C.Rajaram of Prime Sports and promising youngster Ashwin Sunder of Meco
Racing with 21 and 19 points respectively.
The qualifying
rounds will be held on Saturday, 7th October and the main races will take place
on Sunday 8th October.The event is organized by the Madras Motor Sports Club.
Arrangements made during the last race will continue wherein the racing enthusiasts
will be able to witness the races from their vehicles in a special parking area
that has been arranged by the club.
