Indian Motorsport, this week end would witness Round 1 & 2 of the 1st JK Tyre Racing Cup at the Sriperumbudur Race Track here in Chennai. This racing cup is essentially for begineers and young racing enthusiasts who have not raced or won in the last two years. The racing will be held for Formula Maruti's and Esteems.

The oragnizers (Madras Motor Sports Club) are upbeat with almost 18 cars confirmed for this week end. The JK Tyres Racing Cup will be a forerunner to the JK Tyre National Road Racing Championship 2006 slated to start in June. The Racing Cup will provide plenty of thrills and spills and give an opportunity for racing enthusiasts to hone their skills so that when they race with the big boys later they will be on equal footing and with competition experience under their helmet.
Gulf Dirt Track National Racing Championship 2006

On the two wheeler front, it is the Round 1 of the FMSCI's Gulf Dirt Track National Championship 2006 organized by Sportscraft, Mumbai at the Yenepoya School Premises at Mangalore.

The organizers have received a whopping 125 entries.

There is big prize money at stake, with the winners of each leg of Gulf Dirt Track National Championship taking home Rs 93, 500/-, while the overall winners in the Championship class, will receive prize money worth Rs 2,50,000/-. This year the Dirt Track National Championship will have a Separate Championship for Novices for Group "D" (unmodified class) and an Indian Expert and Private Expert Class for Group B and Group A motorcycles. There shall be a race for the local competitors as well.
