Aditya Akkineni confirms participation in the Asian Formula BMW 2006 Championship

Aditya Akkineni winner of the 2005 JK Tyre Rotax Max Karting Challenge and 4th in the JK Tyre National Formula LGB Racing championship has signed up with Team E Rain for the 2006 Asian Formula BMW Championship.

The deal was put together by ASB Management represented by Akbar Ebrahim. Team E Rain is the same team that Armaan Ebrahim drove for in 2005 in the Formula BMW Championship.

Team E Rain will have the sevices of A1 Team India's Chief Engineer Patrick Roberts and A1 Team India's Data Annalyst Andy Pardoe for the 2006 season.

Aditya Akkineni will benefit greatly by driving for Team E Rain as he will then have access to all the data of Armaan when he drove in the 2005 championship and this by itself is a huge bonus. Armaan may also help Aditya out for a few races when he gets time off from his busy A1 GP schedule.

Aditya will also be participating in the BMW Motorsport training and scholarship programme in Bahrain on the 26th and 27th January 2006.

Coming in the top 3 places in the sholarship programme is not my criteria for signing up for the full championship as I feel that I am now ready for the Asian Formula BMW championship.I will use the 2 day training programme as a good learning curve for me to get to grips with the 150 bhp Formula BMW car and if I am in the top 3,it is a bonus which will definitely ease the pressure on my sponsorship requirements, said Aditya Akineni.

Aditya Akkineni will also do a 3 day pre season testing programme at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia prior to the start of the championship.
