another Chennaite makes his debut in International Motorcycle Racing |
Three
times National Champion in two wheeler racing Emmanuel Jebaraj
will be making his debut in international motor cycle racing. He will be taking
part in Malaysian Super Series Championship in Malaysia in the 150 cc class.
The races are scheduled to commence this weekend. After the thundering performances
of another Chennai lad Dilip Rogger in international motor bike racing in the
600cc category, all eyes will be on Jebaraj as he makes his debut. As in the
case of Dilip Rogger, Jebaraj is facing the same problem – lack of sponsors.
Jebaraj who is from Chennai started racing in 1997 at the age of twenty. He
began his racing career with Yam boys Racing he later moved to moved to Team
Tectrac Racing run by the well known duo Vivek & Vikram. It was this phase
that helped him learn a lot about racing and its techniques. After a successful
year of 2001, he moved on to Team TVS (Factory Racing) and raced for them from
2002-2004, eventually winning the 2004 championship for them.
A little support from Yamaha Motor Company resulted in Jebaraj and his teammates
enhancing their performances earning them the Championship fighting against
the formidable Team TVS (Factory Racing). Emmanuel Jebaraj has won three National
Titles in the years 2000, 2001 and 2004 respectively.
In 2005, Jebaraj moved from Team TVS (Factory Racing) and joined RR Racing run
by the famous racing Twins Raja & Raju. Jebaraj finished 2nd in the Championship,
which also made him as the runner up in National Championship for the 7th time
in various categories.
Emmanuel Jebaraj has a younger brother Emmanuel Gnanaraj who also was a champion
in the national racing championship in the year 2001 riding in the 150cc two
stroke category. He is presently in the United Kingdom and races occasionally
in the 600 cc category only in amateur events.
