GULF FOSTER A CHILD CAR EVENT
AN EVENT WITH A CAUSE :
22ND JANUARY 2006

PRESS RELEASE

Plans a memorable day out for orphan kids – An Event With A Cause

Gulf Oil Corporation Limited will be starting the motor-sporting activities for the year 2006 with the Gulf Foster A Child Car Drive, sponsored by Gulf Oil and organized by Sportscraft, Mumbai. The much- looked forward event will be run on Sunday, January 22, 2006.

Till last year this event was a navigational rally and the competition was based on time – speed distance and related penalties but this year the organizers, Sportscraft, have introduced a much thrilling concept. The new concept, although includes navigational skill, will just be a drive. The Drive, from south Mumbai to Khandala, will be broken up by certain stops along the route where the participants will require answering the given question. On the basis of the correct answer and duration the winner will be chosen. Yes indeed this concept will be different from the monotonous navigation event.

On the occasion, Mr. N.C.Sekharan Head Of Lubes. Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd said, ”We, at GULF are sincerely committed to the cause of the society and we are using this drive as a platform to build social awareness towards orphans and homeless children.  This drive will provide an opportunity for the orphan kids to enjoy a day’s picnic and have a drive around the city – a moment which they will cherish for quite some time to come. Moreover it will be an occasion to impart compassion in child of the participating family”.

This year the children will be taken from two various homes: the boys will be from Our Lady’s Home and the girls will be from St. Anthony’s Home.

Since past 5 years in its endeavor to promote motor sports in India the Lubricant Major - Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd. the second largest oil company in the private sector in the Indian Lubricants market had taken motor sporting to newer heights. The company offers all kinds of lubricants, greases, brake fluids, coolants and oil filters required by the Indian automobile market. In addition to the above, it also offers various kinds of specialty industrial lubricants.

The intricacies of the drive are simple: all one needs is a car and a heart that can reach out to Mumbai’s orphaned children. In each vehicle a family will drive with an orphaned child. They will have to decipher the tulip rout chart that will be given to them in advance and adhere to the traffic laws and traffic speed limits.

There will be special prizes for all-ladies teams.

As always Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd., will be making a handsome donation to the orphanage in kind. Besides, Sportscraft has decided to donate the amount received by way of entry fees to the orphanage.

Some of the regulars at the drive have already shown interest in participating, but Sportscraft is hopeful of new participants who can give their time and love for only a day to the underprivileged child.

A maximum of 50 entries will be accepted till 18th January 2006 on first come-first-serve basis.
