The Gulf Autocross for two-wheelers has received over 110 entries. They are not just from Mumbai, but also from Delhi, Nashik, Pune and Thane. It proves that two-wheeler motor sport is popular and growing in India, even though there isn’t any prize-money.
Young two-wheeler riders are all set to show off their riding skills and prove themselves in this Sportscraft-organised challenge. The going, needless to say, is sure going to be tough in this time-trial event, with a fraction of a second going to decide who becomes champion.
There are several professional riders who have entered, like Snehal Chauhan and Pinkesh Thakker from Pune, Manjeet Singh Basan, Freddy Elavia, Rustom Patel and Badal Doshi from Mumbai, Shamim Khan and Ganesh Lokhande from Nashik. These riders are the ones to watch out for as they use all their proficiency to win the ‘Fastest Rider of the Day’ award.
Autocross a very basic form of motor-sport, hence it has attracted many new comers. Over 25 first timers have entered the fray. It is not just the men who have enrolled themselves but quite a few ladies have come forth to prove themselves in a special ladies class.
