Ucal Rally for the Blind Sunday,
29th January will be a special day for motor sports enthusiasts
as the Rally for the Blind gets underway in Chennai. Conducted by the
Madras Motor Sports Club in association with the National Association
for the Blind, this event sponsored by UCAL Fuel Systems is being held
for the 14th time in as many years.
Based on a TSD (Time, Speed & Distance) format, the rally will run in and around Chennai city and its suburbs covering a distance of around 80 + kms in a duration of approximately 3 hours. The Rally will start from the Gymkhana Club with the first vehicle being flagged off at 09 30 hours. The Prize distribution will be held at the same venue at 15 30 hours. The highlight of this event is one which has a social message attached; you are helping a visually handicapped person enjoy the thrills of a motor sport event. This gives the visually handicapped a feeling of belonging to the mainstream of life. As such, by participating, you enjoy a rally as well as give something special to the visually handicapped navigator who will read out the instructions in Braille. There will be prizes in 4 categories – experts, regular, novice and all ladies. Teams who have won earlier will be classified in the experts category. < full release >
