FMSCI ties up with United India Insurance for motorsport insurance

The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) which is the only National Sports Federation recognized by the Government of India for the governance and promotion of motorsport in India has announced that for the year 2008, all its license holders / officials and organizers are automatically insured for all events that are held under its aegis. Thanks to United India Insurance Company Limited who would be issuing this policy.

According to the FMSCI all competitors holding an 2008 FMSCI Competition License and taking part in an FMSCI authorised event are covered for High Risk Personal Accident Insurance for Rs.1 lakh with Rs.20,000/= medical expenses extension per person, valid during the running of the event with a maximum limit of 150 competitors on any particular day. Similarly all clubs / organizers holding an valid 2008 FMSCI permit for an event are covered for third party liability upto Rs.50 lakhs valid during the running of the event and a maximum of 100 officials officiating on any given day are covered for Rs.1 Lakh Personal Accident with Rs.20,000/= medical expenses extension. The competitors and the organizers however are free to obtain any additional insurance policies that they may deem fit.

This move by the FMSCI has been welcomed by one and all in the motorsporting fraternity.

With the FMSCI planning to run the Indian National Rally Championship and Indian National Motocross Championship, the year 2008 promises to be a great and safe year for Indian motorsports.
