3rd JK Tyre Racing Cup 2007
All set for 3rd edition of J K Tyre Racing Cup for Juniors

After its thundering success in the last two summers in Chennai, the JK Tyre Racing Cup is back for its third edition with a change. This event will be held for the first time in the winter season, as next year's motor racing season in India is scheduled to begin early next year. This joint effort between J K Tyre and Madras Motor Sports Club is part of the continuous process to promote car racing and to spot and encourage new talent apart from providing growth opportunities for deserving young racers.

This 10 race event will be held in two rounds in the Formula Maruti category which is basically for beginners and young racing enthusiasts who have not raced or won a race in the last two years.

The races will held over two double header nweekends at the Madras Motor Race Track in Irrungattukottai near Chennai. Each round consists of five races with 8 laps each. Day 1 (Saturday) will feature 2 races while Day 2 (Sunday) will have 3 races.

Round 1 (Races 1 to 5) will be held on 1st and 2nd December while Round 2 (Races 6 to 10) will be held on 22nd and 23rd December 2007. Outstation competitors have to make only two trips to take part in these 10 races. The Formula Maruti racing cars are available for hire at a very nominal charge.

The best 8 out of 10 results will count for the Overall Classification.

Grid position for the first race of each round will be decided in the qualifying rounds. The grid for the next four races of the weekend will be decided based on the results of the previous race. For example : for Race 2 the top six placed drivers of Race 1 will be reversed, i.e. the racer who finished first in race 1 will start from sixth for race 2, while the driver who finished sixth would start from pole. There shall be no change for position from 7th and will be based on the previous race results.
