10th JK Tyre National Racing Championship
Saran Vikram & Ashwin Sundar share honors

Chennai, September 2: Chennai School boy, Saran Vikram of Narain Karthikeyan’s team was the toast of the fourth round races of the J K Tyre National Road Racing Championship that ended at the state of the art MMST track in Irungattukottai near Chennai here today.

In the Formula Rolon Chevrolet first race, Saran Vikram, a 12th standard student of Sri Venkateshwara Matriculation School driving for NK Speed Racing team, was in his elements as he recorded a remarkable win snuffing away the competition and spared a little less than a minute to second placed Ajay Kini of Amaron WSRF with Leela (Leela Krishnan) to take the chequered flag. Former national champion in Formula Esteem category, local lad J. D. Madan of Team Gemini Racing became third on the podium after making good of a skirmish amongst his three front runners. It was a disappointing outing for championship leader Aditya Patel of Team NK Speed and Sarosh Hataria of Team Prime Racing as both were involved in a racing incident and the latter was penalized a suspended sentence till the championship is over.

The Second race for the Formula Rolon Chevrolet witnessed Saran Vikram holding on to the momentum to finish top on the podium 14 seconds ahead of second placed Saahil Shelar of Team Amaron WSRF. Adtiya Patel of Team NK Speed came third.

In the Formula LGB Hyundai category's first race, pole leader Ashwin Sundar was off to a flying start and allowed Rayomand Banajee of Team Gemini Racing to move past him but regained his leadership position in the fifth lap and then never looked back before scoring his first win of the day. Rayomand Banajee had to console himself for a second spot finish and Karthik Shankar of Team WSRF with Leela pushed himself from 4th place in the penultimate lap and relegated Anand Prasad of Gemini Racing to become third. However, a foul start by Karthik Shankar forced him to be stripped off the podium finish with a 20 seconds penalty and was placed at seventh spot. Thus, Anand Prasad was credited with a third spot finish.
