Double delight for Kapil Khanna Team WSRF with Leela garners glory in Round 1

It was Team WSRF with Leela right on top at the end of the first round of the third JK Tyre Junior Cup which concluded at the Madras Motor Race Track today. After Suhail Sabharwal and Sumit Maluja won Race 1 and Race 2 on Saturday, it was the turn of Kapil Khanna and Vinoth to bring full glory to their team by winning Race 3 to 5 respectively. Kapil won Race 3 and 5 while Vinoth was the winner in Race 4.

Race 3 of Round 1 which also happened to be the first race of the day was red flagged in the 2nd lap after a pile up involving four vehicles. The race which was restarted after a long delay saw a spate of good efforts from Delhi racer Kapil Khanna and Sudanand Rajan of Team WSRF with Leela. Starting 3rd on the grid Kapil Khanna romped home to record his first win in the championship. A brilliant performance from Sudanand Rajan starting last on the grid saw him finish in second place just a whisker ahead of team mate Prithveen Rajan.

Race 4 saw the continuing domination of Team WSRF with Leela as it was the turn of Chennai racer Vinoth to take the chequered flag. Finishing 2nd and 3rd were team mates Rohit Khanna and Prithveen Rajan respectively.

Race 5 was embroiled in a controversy with the vehicle of the lone lady racer Alisha Abdullah of Team Rams Racing being hit from behind by Rohit Khanna of Team WSRF Racing with Leela. Alisha was leading at the time when her vehicle was hit resulting in her non completion of the race. Rohit Khanna’s rash driving earned him a penalty pushing him to 4th place and propelled 2nd placed Kapil Khanna to his second win of the day.

Prithveen & Sudanand Rajan who finished 3rd and 4th were elevated to 2nd and third places.
