Parekh is crowned champion Chennai : 30th Dec 2007 The curtains came down on the third edition of the JK Tyre Junior Racing Cup at the Madras Motor Race Track at Irrungattukottai in an action packed weekend. With fortunes fluctuating, it was ultimately consistency which paid results and brought the deserving dividends to Goutham Parekh of Team WSRF with Leela who annexed the championship title. By winning the J K Tyre Junior Cup, Goutham has won a full scholarship worth Rs. Two and half lakhs in the Formula LGB Swift category in the JK Tyre National Racing Championship 2008 scheduled to begin in June 2008. Finishing second and third in the championship were Prithveen Rajan and Suhail Sabharwal - also from Team WSRF with Leela. Second placed Prithveen Rajan will get 4 rounds and Suhail Sabharwal will get two rounds of free drive in the Formula LGB Swift category in next year’s national championship.

The day began with Race 4, with the grid as per the results of the qualifying
rounds held on Saturday and Goutham Parekh on pole
was once again in excellent form as he got off to a exuberant start
to move up and build a comfortable lead. Under no threat through out
the race, Goutham scalped his third win in Round 2
to put himself within striking distance of the title. Finishing in 2nd
and 3rd places were Goutham’s team mates Rohit
Khanna and Suhail Sabharwal. 1.
