Hot and humid
conditions prevailed as the qualifying sessions for the 6th and
final round of the JK Tyre National Racing Championship
got underway at the Madras Motor Race Track at Sriperumbudur
near Chennai today.
With the championship tantalizingly poised in the premium Formula
Rolon Chevrolet category all eyes were on the top three racers -
Chennai lads Aditya Patel and Saran Vikram
from Team NK Racing, and Pune racer Rayomand
Banajee from Team Prime Racing.
Saran Vikram achieved the fastest laps of 01:47:973
and 01:48:342 to take pole positions for Race 1 and Race 2 respectively
in the Formula Rolon Chevrolet category.. Aditya Patel took
the 2nd slot while Rayomand Banajee will start
from third place in Race 1. Race 2 will see Aditya Patel
start in 2nd place and Sarosh Hataria of
Team Prime Racing in 3rd place.

Also seen in the picture are Narain Karthikeyan, Aditya Patel, Rayomand
Banajee, J D Madan and Gaurav Dalal.
It
was yet another glorious show from the champion and little master
Ashwin Sundar of Team Rams Racing. Ashwin
captured double pole positions in the Formula LGB Hyundai
category with the fastest lap timings of 01:57:412 and 01:58:147
for Race 1 and Race 2 respectively. Starting in 2nd and 3rd places
in Race 1 in this class will be Rayomand Banajee from
Team Gemini Racing and B. Vijay Kumar from
Prime Racing respectively. Race 2 will see Narain
Shankar of Rams Racing starting in 2nd
place and Rayomand Banajee in 3rd.
In Formula LGB Swift category it was the turn of Bangalore lad Sudarshan
Rao of Rams Racing to steal the thunder by recording the
fastest lap - 01:55:919 - to take pole in Race 1. Ashwin
Sundar of Team Rams Racing and Saran Vikram of
Team WSRF with Leela will start from 2nd and 3rd places
respectively. Race 2 will see the same racers, but in a different
order. Starting on pole will be Ashwin Sunder who
timed the fastest lap of 01:56:472. Saran Vikram and
Sudarshan Rao will start 2nd and 3rd in this race.
The main races will commence on Sunday, 07th Oct at 10 am.
