Double pole for Ashwin Sundar & K. Rajini

With nearly 70 racers in the fray, the qualifying races of Round 1 of the Ucal Rolon National Road Racing Championship for two wheelers at Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore saw the riders at their aggressive best as they went all out to grab the premium positions in the grid.

K.Rajini of Team TVS was in great form as he took pole positions in Group D : 4 stroke : 125 to 160 cc and Group C : 2 stroke : 150cc Expert categories with the fastest lap timings of 01:21:742 and 01:14:840 respectively.

Last year’s champion of champions Ashwin Sundar who has switched over to Team Yamaha this season was also in tremendous form taking pole position in two categories. In Group D : 4 stroke 125 cc expert class he had the fastest lap timings of 01:24:801 while in Group B 4 stroke 160 cc class he timed 01:19:382.

P. Rajani annexed the pole position in the Group B 4 stroke 250 cc open category timing the fastest lap - 01:20:043.

In the novice category Thomas Jones took the top slot in the Group D 2 stroke 150 cc class with a timing of 01:30:201. Taking pole positions in Group D 4 stroke 125 cc and 160 cc classes were R. Karthikeyan and S. Shankar with fastest lap timings of 01:36:273 and 01:30:078 respectively.

K. Umesh Babu took the honors in the moped category with the fastest lap timing of 01:40:740.

The main races will commence at 9 am on Sunday, 29th April.
