gets ready for racing action with round 2 this weekend if rain god is willing..... |
After an action packed opening round in Coimbatore in April the scenario now shifts to Chennai with the 2nd round of the UCAL ROLON National Road Racing Championship 2007 for two wheelers getting underway this weekend at the Madras Motor Racing Track at Irrungattukottai. The qualifiers will be held on Saturday, 23rd June 2007 and the main races on Sunday, 24th June 2007 subject to the condition of the race track as it is raining in Chennai since yesterday.
Being organized
by Meco Motorsports Private Ltd. and Madras Motor Sports
Club, this event is being held under the aegis of the FMSCI
(The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India). This event is being
sponsored for the third successive year by the automotive giants Ucal
Fuel Systems and Rolon Chains.
Around 100 riders will be seen in action in the 2nd round as the cream of Indian
bike racers will show case their skills. This year’s championship has
seen the introduction of two new classes ( Group "B" : 4 Stroke :
110 - 160 cc & 161 to 250 cc) which has helped the Ucal Rolon Championship
move towards the more powerful categories of bikes resulting in more
action and higher speeds.
In the expert categories at the end of Round 1, Preetam Dev Moses leads
in the Group C 2 stroke 110 - 150 cc class with 47 points while T.K.Vishwanath
and K. Rajani are tied in 2nd place with 45 points
each. P.Karthick heads the table in the Group D 4 stroke 80
- 110 cc with 45 points. Tied at 2nd place with 39 points each are Ashwin
Sundar and Harry Sylvester. K. Rajini is
the leader in Group D 4 stroke 125 to 160 cc class with a tally of 48 points.
P.Karthick and Harry Sylvester are in 2nd
and 3rd places with 43 and 39 points respectively.
In the Group B 4 stroke categories 110 - 160 cc class it is Ashwin Sundar
in the lead with 51 points followed by Preetam and
Vishwanath with 45 and 41 points respectively. In the 160 -250
cc class of the same group P. Rajani is in the lead with 49
points followed by R.Deepak(45) and K.Vinoth(43).
In the novice races Group D 4 stroke has S.Shankar leading
in both 80 - 125 cc and 125 -160 cc classes with 47 and 48 points respectively.
In the 110 to 150 cc category, K. Arun Kumar leads in Group
D 2 stroke class with 43 points, while Mukesh Babu lead in
the Group C 2 stroke class with 45 points.
