Racing action return to Coimbatore this week end
Preetam, Ashwin, Harry & K Rajini in the Championship lead

After two thrilling rounds, round 1 in Coimbatore and round 2 Chennai - it is now the turn of Coimbatore to host the 3rd round of the UCAL ROLON National Road Racing Championship 2007 for two wheelers which gets underway this weekend at the Kari Motor Speedway track, at Chettipalayam in Coimbatore. The qualifying sessions will be held on Saturday, 28th July and the main races on Sunday. Being organized by Meco Motorsports Private Ltd. and Madras Motor Sports Club, this event is being sponsored for the third successive year by the automotive giants Ucal Fuel Systems and Rolon Chains. This National Championship is approved by The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), the National Sports Federation recognized by the Government of India.

Around 100 riders will be seen vying for honors in this round which will see the cream of Indian bike racers in action - including Preetam Dev Moses, K.Rajini and Ashwin Sundar - who have made their debut successfully in the international arena.

At the end of the second round, the championship leaders in various categories are as follows-:

Expert category
Preetam Dev Moses of Team TVS heads the table in the Group C 2 Stroke 110 - 150 cc class with a tally of 98 points followed by T.K.Vishwanath and Sriskandarajah - both from Team Yamaha - with 86 and 71 points respectively.

K. Rajini of Team TVS with 96 points is in the lead in Group D 4 Stroke 125 - 160 cc class followed by P.Karthick and Harry Sylvester with 81 and 75 points respectively. In the 80 - 125 cc class of the same category, it is Harry Sylvester at the top with 75 points. P.Karthick and Sriskandarajah are tied in 2nd place with 74 points each while Preetam Dev Moses is close behind with 71 points.

Group B 4 Stroke open category
Ashwin Sundar of Team Yamaha is the leader in the 110 - 160 cc class having garnered 96 points so far. Preetam Dev Moses of Team TVS is 2nd place with 90 points while T K Vishwanath from Team Yamaha is in 3rd place with 79 points. In the 160 to 250 cc class R.Deepak is the leader with 96 points followed by P. Rajani and Aradhya Kumar with 94 and 55 points respectively.

Novice category
S. Shankar leads in both classes of the Group D 4 stroke category having a tally of 88 points in the 80 - 125 cc and 96 points in the 125 - 160 cc class respectively. Rohit Giri is the leader in both Group C 2 stroke 110 -160 cc class and Group D 2 Stroke 110 -150 cc class having a tally of 66 and 74 points respectively.

R.G.Gopal with a total of 31 points is the leader in the mopeds category.

The main races will commence on Sunday at 9 am.
