Ucal Rolon National Road Racing Championship 2007

Preetam, Sriskandarajah & K Rajini in the championship lead

The championship is still wide open even as the penultimate round of the UCAL ROLON National Road Racing Championship 2007 for two wheelers gets underway this weekend at the Madras Motor Race Track in Sriperumbudur near Chennai. This National Championship is approved by The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), which is the National Federation recognized by the Government of India and is organized by Meco Motorsports Private Ltd and Madras Motor Sports Club. This event is sponsored by Ucal Fuel Systems and Rolon Chains. The qualifying sessions will be held on Saturday, 15th and the main races on Sunday, 16th September. There will also be two races each in Group A, Royal Enfield, RD 350 and TVS Race A Bike classes which are not part of the championship.

Around 100 riders will be seen in action striving for honors in this crucial round which will once again see the cream of Indian bike racers in action - including Preetam Dev Moses, K.Rajini and Ashwin Sunder - who have made their debut successfully in the international arena.

Overall championship standings after Round 4 - is as follows
Expert category

A keen tussle is on the cards as Preetam Dev Moses of Team TVS who heads the table in the Group C 2 Stroke 110 - 150 cc class with a tally of 192 points battles it out with T.K.Vishwanath of Team Yamaha who is close behind with 184 points. Sriskandarajah - also from Team Yamaha - is at a distant third with 150 points.

K. Rajini of Team TVS with 182 points is in the lead in Group D 4 Stroke 125 - 160 cc class followed by Harry Sylvester and P.Karthick with 159 and 155 points respectively. In the 80 - 125 cc class of the same category, it is a tie at the top with both Sriskandarajah and Harry Sylvester having 151 points each. Ashwin Sunder is in third place with 147 points.

Group B 4 Stroke open category

Preetam Dev Moses of Team TVS leads in the 110 - 160 cc class with a tally of 184 points followed by K.Rajini of Team TVS with 165 points. In 3rd place is P. Karthick with 146 points. In the 160 to 250 cc class R.Deepak is the leader with 196 points followed by P. Rajani and Bala Vijay with 179 and 109 points respectively.

Novice category

S. Shankar has performed extremely well this season and currently leads in both classes of the Group D 4 stroke category having a tally of 162 points in the 80 - 125 cc and 192 points in the 125 - 160 cc class respectively. Rohit Giri leads in Group D 2 stroke 110 -160 cc class and A.Sathish Kumar in Group C 2 Stroke 110 -150 cc class having a tally of 168 and 130 points respectively.

R.G.Gopal with a total of 59 points is the leader in the mopeds category.

Organized by Meco Motorsports Private Ltd. and Madras Motor Sports Club, and is being held under the aegis of the FMSCI (The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India).

The main races will commence on Sunday at 9.30 am.
