Ucal Rolon National Road Racing Championship 2007
Final round in Chennai this weekend (24-25 Nov 2007)
Preetam, Sriskandarajah & K Rajini in the Championship lead

It will be an exciting and action packed weekend of racing with the championship still wide open even as the final round of the UCAL ROLON National Road Racing Championship 2007 (an FMSCI approved National Championship) for two wheelers gets underway this weekend at the Madras Motor Race Track in Sriperumbudur near Chennai. The qualifying sessions will be held on Saturday, 24th and the main races on Sunday, 25th November. There will also be two races each in Group A and TVS Race A Bike classes which are not part of the championship.

Over 100 riders will be seen in action striving for honors in this deciding round which will once again see the cream of Indian bike racers in action - including Preetam Dev Moses, K.Rajini and Ashwin Sunder - who have made their debut successfully in the international arena.

Overall championship standings after Round 5

Expert category

A keen tussle is on the cards as Preetam Dev Moses of Team TVS who heads the table in the Group C 2 Stroke 110 - 150 cc class with a tally of 239 points battles it out with T.K.Vishwanath of Team Yamaha who is close behind with 233 points. Sriskandarajah - also from Team Yamaha - is at a distant third with 191 points.

K. Rajini of Team TVS with 230 points is in the lead in Group D 4 Stroke 125 - 160 cc class followed by Harry Sylvester and P.Karthick with 202 and 194 points respectively. In the 80 - 125 cc class of the same category, it is Sriskandarajah at the top with 194 points. Very close in second and third places are Preetam Dev Moses and Harry Sylvester with 191 points and 188 points respectively.

Group B 4 Stroke open category

Preetam Dev Moses of Team TVS leads in the 110 - 160 cc class with a tally of 233 points followed by K.Rajini of Team TVS with 210 points. In 3rd place is P. Karthick with 181 points. In the 160 to 250 cc class R.Deepak is the leader with 247 points followed by P. Rajni and Bala Vijay with 222 and 134 points respectively.

Novice category

S. Shankar has performed extremely well this season and has literally sealed the championship in both classes of the Group D 4 stroke category having a tally of 210 points in the 80 - 125 cc and 235 points in the 125 - 160 cc class respectively. Rohit Giri leads in Group D 2 stroke 110 -160 cc class and A. Sathish Kumar in Group C 2 Stroke 110 -150 cc class having a tally of 215 and 164 points respectively.

R.G.Gopal with a total of 69 points is the leader in the mopeds category.

Organized by Meco Motorsports Private Ltd. and Madras Motor Sports Club, this event is sponsored by Ucal Fuel Systems and Rolon Chains and is being held under the aegis of the FMSCI (The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India).

The main races will commence on Sunday, 25th Nov 2007 at 9.30 am. Entry for the public is free.
