Chennai lad and last year’s National Champion Ashwin Sunder was invited to drive the 8th round of the ADAC Polo Cup as a guest at the Brands Hatch Circuit, Great Britain, as a Guest diver for Volkswagen on 29-31 August 2008. This is a support race for the Formula 3 Euro series .This is the first time that Ashwin was driving these cars (Left hand drive) and on a new track.

Ashwin took a few laps to get used to the fast Brands Hatch Circuit and the car. In the free practice Ashwin achieved 13th in a grid of 25 cars

The qualifying session was for 30 minutes. In the first half of the qualifying, Ashwin was running 12th, but at the end of the qualifying session Ashwin qualified 3rd with just 00.089 off pole.

Ashwin was looking forward for a good race on Sunday, but the race was over prematurely for the Indian despite him setting the fastest race lap. "Unfortunately, I made a braking mistake and slid into the gravel trap – too bad. I would have much rather seen the chequered flag, because up to that point I really enjoyed my race as a guest.”
