| 7th November 2008, Coimbatore : The third round of the FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship for 2 wheelers viz. IMG Rally of Coimbatore 2008 officially started today with the reccee, documentation & scrutiny and a ceremonial flag off at Coimbatore. A cream of 22 India's best rally riders will be seen in action in this rally. The reccee started at 0800 hrs today, as per schedule and the competitors were taken in a convoy two times over the two stages @ Palladam viz. the Textool Wind Farm which is 12.43 kms and Premier which is 16.65 kms. After this they headed straight to Andal Kalyana Mandapam, Trichy Road, Coimbatore for the documentation and pre-event scrutiny. The ceremonial start was held at 1700 hrs and was flagged off by Worshipful Mayor of Coimbatore Thiru.R. Venkatachalam at 1700 hrs, followed by Riders Briefing. Most of the riders, after the reccee felt that the route is quite challenging and they look forward to a great event tomorrow.
Worshipful Mayor of Coimbatore Thiru R Venkatachalam flagging off the Rally The Special Stage Rally is scheduled to start at 1040 am tomorrow and the riders will cover 88 kms of Special Stages, wherein speed is the criteria. The two special stages will be run three times in forward direction. There shall be a service of 20 minutes between a pair of two stages and a regroup for 1 hour after the 2nd pair. The rally is expected to finish at 1630 hrs followed by the Prize Distribution Function. The event is sponsored by M/s.India Mines Group, Sri Annapoorna Sri Gowrishankar Hotels Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore and King Aqua Waters, Coimbatore. H.K. Pradeep of Team TVS Racing is leading the overall National Championship with a total of 40 points, followed by his team mates Ravindra M.S. and Natraj R with 33 points each.
