Chennai,
5th October 2008 : It was Gaurav Dalal’s
day of glory as he clinched the National Championship title
in the premium Formula Rolon Chevrolet category with a series of
spectacular performance in the current season. The curtains came
down on a season which saw several upsets and fluctuating fortunes
as the lead changed hands several times. However once Gaurav
got the lead, he held and built up his lead through consistent
performances to eventually win the National championship.

who turned up to witness the races for the final time this season.
From the saloon cars to the Super Bikes to the Formula racing cars,
it was a blend of exhilarating speed and excellent driving skills
with the cream of Indian racers exhibiting their tremendous potential
and talent. Today's races also saw a few pilots hogging the limelight
- Sudanand Rajan, Praveen Keerthi,

The
premium category of the championship saw pole leader Sarosh
Hataria of Team Red Rooster registering
a great win in Race 1. Sarosh faced stiff competition
from his team mate and championship leader Gaurav Dalal
who snatched the lead in the very first lap and held on
till the 7th lap when misfortune struck Gaurav’s vehicle
with a shaft failure forcing him out of the race in the penultimate
lap. Sarosh regained the lead to complete a fine
win. Sarosh’s team mate Akhil Khushlani
finished 2nd while Rayomand Banajee of
Speed NK Racing came in third.
In Race 2, it was a close duel between Team Red Rooster
racers Akhil Kushlani and Sarosh
Hataria with Akhil ultimately triumphing.
Anand Prasad of Prime Racing finished
third.

It
was a different story in Race 2 of Round 3 in this category which
saw the vehicles of two of the main contenders Saahil Shelar
and Sarosh Hataria getting involved in
a collision resulting in both going out of the race. Grabbing the
opportunity was Akhil Khushlani of Team
Red Rooster who blazed away to a great win. Finishing second
was seasoned campaigner Rayomand Banajee of Team
Meco Racing. Gaurav Dalal’s lacklustre
third place finish in this race however helped him to seal the coveted
championship.
In
the Drivers Championship, it was 1,2,3 for the Team Red
Rooster with its drivers Gaurav, Sarosh & Akhil
Khuslani finishing in that order.
In
the Team Championship also, it was the Team Red Rooster
who won the Championship with 156 points, followed by NK
Racing with 100 and Prime Racing with
70 points.

Pole
leader and 18 year old Saran Vikram failed to capitalize
at the start in Race 1 and it was no surprise when Karthick
Shankar of Team TVS Girling took complete
command of this race to register a comprehensive win. Finishing

and Prithveen Rajan from Wallace
Sports. Race 2 saw the grid reversed. However following
a pile lap just after the start the race was red flagged. Four vehicles
involved in the pile up including that of Karthick Shankar
could not take part in the race further. The race was restarted
was once again initially dominated by Saran Vikram until
his vehicle failed forcing him out of two laps. At this point Rayomand
Banajee of Team Amaron moved in and took
the lead and raced away to a comfortable win .Prithveen
Rajan of Wallace Sports finished second.
Akhil Devarag of Team TVS Girling came
in third.
In
