The round
6 of the Kawasaki Cup was held at the Pasir Gudang Circuit at
Johor on 20th July 2008 as a support race for the FIM Asian GP.
Emmanuel Clarke from India took part in this
event. Even though Clarke had only 20 minutes of practice time,
he managed to set a time of 1:55.8 to be the 8th fastest. In the
qualifying session that followed, he improved his timing to 1:55.1
and once again was 8th fastest and was placed in row 2.
"This
is a 3.8 km track, so technical and flowing that you cannot see
the exit of many corners while turning. I had to compete with
the local boys who had prior knowledge of the track and with the
little practice I had, I think I am happy that I managed to be
in row 2" said Clarke.

The race 1
started well for Clarke. He was running 7th, until he ran wide
at a chicane and joined back in 11th place to eventually finish
9th.
With the finishing
order deciding the starting grid for race 2, Clarke started
in 9th place and finished 9th.
Clarke
said "I did move
upto 8th, but couldn't keep the pace. I did my best given the
limited knowledge of the track and very less practice time....Overall
for the week end I am 8th"
Emmanuel
Clarke is placed 7th in the Championship with 82 points
out of 21 riders. With one more round to go in the Championship
Clarke is hoping for a good finish to end in the top 6 of the
Championship.
