Aditya wins Rookie Race in Macau

Sunday, 16th Nov 2008 : The final round of the Formula BMW Pacific was held between 14-16 November 2008 at the Guia Circuit, Macau which is considered one of the most challenging circuits to drive on. This was the first ever Formula BMW race in Macau and the first for Aditya Patel as well.

After a year of problems, Aditya came into his own and put in a sizzling performance to come out on top of the rookies.and sixth overall. A tremendous performance considering there were 22 cars on the grid, with several championship winners from Europe and the world over.

Qualifying on Saturday was good, as Aditya and his engineer Peter Allnut had set up the car, after walking the circuit three nights in a row. Unfortunately, a slow puncture forced Aditya into 9th place on the grid.

Making a brilliant start as usual, Aditya quickly moved up to 6th place, and held on, catching up on the leaders , but the crashes all around kept the yellow flags busy.

It was a truly spirited drive from the Indian National Champion, who went on to prove that he has the drive in him to take Indian motor racing to greater heights.

Aditya said "It was the toughest one I have ever raced on, and I am looking forward to be back again next year."
