Singapore,
27th Sep 2008
The
young racer from Chennai and national racing champion 2007 Aditya
Patel came up with one of his career best performances
as he raced away to a 7th place win in the first ever night race
held at the new Singapore Grand Prix Marina Bay street circuit.
With vehicle problems affecting him during the qualifiers, Aditya
had to start last in a grid of 17. But the champion instincts in
Aditya saw him taking it cool as he drove exceedingly
well to move up 10 places in the ladder to finish in a very creditable
seventh place overall and third in rookies. The second race will
be held tomorrow before the Formula 1 race.
It
was a day of firsts as Formula BMW Pacific made motor sport history
when the field of 17 became the first cars to take to the brand-new
Marina Bay street circuit. The series welcomes a number of exciting
new drivers and teams for the two rounds, which are official support
races to the most talked-about race of the season – the 2008
FORMULA 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix.
For
many of the drivers, racing on the 5.067 km Marina Bay Circuit will
be their first experience of a street circuit – a good challenge
before the season finale at the famous Guia circuit during November’s
Macau Grand Prix.
