The round 5 of the Germany's ADAC Formula Masters Championship was held at the Eurospeedway track between 5-7 September 2008 and our Indian driver Ashwin Sundar took part in the Championship under Ma-Con Motorsport Team.

The Friday practice did not go well for Ashwin and he could achieve only 18th. However, in the first session of the qualifying he improved and finished 12th. In Q2, he further improved his timing and qualified 9th.

Said Ashwin : "Friday practice was really bad, I could not get the right gears for few corners and was 18th and was 1.7 off pace. I discussed with my team on Friday and it was better for Saturday qualifyings. In Q1, I qualified 12th and in Q2 I pushed very hard and was .40 off pace and qualified 9th. I was happy with the car and was really set to do well in the race."

Race 1

Ashwin, starting from the 12th on the grid, had a good start, though he lost one place, he was quick to recover it in the second corner itself. Infact, Ashwin was on 11th till lap 5, when two cars in the front spun and Ashwin to avoid them went off the track and in the bargain lost 8 positions and was dropped down to 19th, but he steadily moved up and finished 13th. Ashwin was not happy with the results and said " I had to go off the track to avoid them. I had no choice. I am not happy with the results"

Race 2

Starting 9th on the grid, once again Ashwin had a good start and was maintaining his position till lap 5. In lap 6 Ashwin had a spun during an overtaking manuever and eventually finished 12th.

"In lap 6 when I tried to pass the 8th place in the inside of corner 1 (180km) we both touched wheels and spun and i recovered quickly and finished the race in 12th place .Overall the weekend was not as good as I expected .Only thing I can be happy about is that I was 5th quickest in the race and was .40 off the pace so if i do well in qualifying in my next race I am sure I can do well . My team is happy because now I am much closer to the guys in front in laptimes and I have improved quiet a lot in my braking from my last few races and I sincerely hope that the next race would be better " opined Ashwin.

The next race for Ashwin is on 20-21 September 2008.
