Aditya Patel @ Formula BMW Pacific 2008
Round 3, Sentul, Indonesia, 18-20 July 2008

The Round 3 of the Formula BMW Pacific was held at the Sentul Circuit in Indonesia between 18 & 20th July 2008 saw Aditya Patel recover from the previous round at Sepang.

It took the first day of practice to learn the circuit, where he was racing for the first time, while many other drivers had raced at Sentul before. After just two practice sessions, Aditya was well on pace and in the top four. This was very encouraging for the young driver.

Qualifying was a bit disappointing, as on his flying lap another car went off the track and the yellow flags came out. This put him in 8th for race1 and 6th for race 2 on the grid.

After a first corner incident, he fought back to finish 7th in race 1. In race 2 , starting 6th , Aditya finished a creditable 5th, putting many experienced drivers behind him. In the third race ,starting 8th, again brought home a 7th place. Race 4 was rather disappointing , as starting from 5th, the engine began losing power from the very first lap onwards. Aditya had to be content with 10th place.

Overall, it was an excellent experience and his team was impressed with the progress he has made in the last few days. Aditya will now need a new engine for the next round which will run as a support race for the Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay between 26 & 28 September 2008.

Aditya Patel is placed 11th in the overall Championship standings and 5th in the Rookie Cup.
