One of the most exciting fun motor sports event in Chennai – the womens’ car rally – was held in Chennai on Sunday, 3rd August. The annual rally organized by Madras Motor Sports Club for the 19th time in as many years saw JK Tyre sponsoring this event for the first time ever. This event was co-sponsored by Xtra Premium (Indian Oil), HI! Tours, Club Mahindra and Cookie Man with Radio City (91.1FM) as the radio partner.

Based on a Time, Speed and Distance format (TSD), the rally covered Chennai city and its outskirts over a distance of 100+ kilometers in a period of approximately three and half hours and had over 60 competitors competing for the honors.

The driver navigator combination of Pramila Jacob and Lita Srinivasan emerged triumphant in the Experts category with the minimal tally of 9 penalty points. Finishing in second place was the mother daughter combination of Molly Joseph and Priti Sinha with 11 penalty points. Anitha Srinath and Reeta Kumar finished third with 18 penalty points.

The pair of Tanuja Patel and Rukmani took the honors in the Regular category with a tally of 17 penalty points followed by the team of Rekha Reddy and Priti Damani with 20 penalty points. Kiron Uttam and Jayashree Srinath finished third with a penalty of 35 points.

The team of Seetha and Rukmani were the winners in the Novice category with a score of 27 penalty points. Coming in second was the team of Shanti Chidambaram and Deepika with 31 penalty points while Sanghamitra and Lalitha had to settle for third place with 36 penalty points.

Mr.S.Muthukrishnan, Chairman, and Mr. Ajit Thomas, President of Madras Motor Sports Club gave away the prizes to the winners.
