Coimbatore,
13th July 2008 : A sunny day and pleasant weather conditions heralded
the beginning of the races today. Dominating performances from
Ameya Walavalkar, Chitesh Mandody,
and Dhruv Mohite ensured their victories in the
senior, junior and Micro Max categories in the third round of
the JK Tyre Rotax Mojo Max Karting Challenge
which were held at the Kari Motor Speedway race track at Coimbatore.
The races were heated affairs as battles raged between the seasoned
campaigners and the promising new generation racers providing
the viewers with thrilling fare.
The senior
category saw a fighting comeback with Mumbai racer Ameya
Walavalkar of Team Mohite’s Racing Academy
coming up with a display of skilled and fast driving
to take a well deserved win. Although Ameya shot
past pole leader Rayomand Banajee, it was a fascinating
tussle till the very end when unfortunately for Rayomand
Banajee, his vehicle stalled a few metres before the
finishing line to deprive him a finish. G.R.Shankar Narayanan
of Team Meco Racing finished second while Kolkata lad
and Team Amaron racer Karan Goenka finished
third.

In the junior
category it was a clean sweep for Team Mohite’s
Racing Academy from Kolhapur. It began with a dashing
effort from Kolhapur racer Chitesh Mandody as
he did well to notch up his first win of the season. Starting
in 2nd place did not deter the youngster who has already had two
second place finishes this season. Moving up the ladder Chitesh
got involved in a keen tussle with team mate Samyak
Shah of Mumbai for the top slot. Despite Samyak’s
best efforts he could not prevent Chitesh
pipping him to the post a fraction ahead. Chennai lad Vishnu
Prasad had to be content with a third place finish.
Dhruv
Mohite of Team Mohite’s Racing Academy
from Kolhapur continued his dominating run to win the
15 lap race in the Micro Max category. Consistency has been 10
year old Dhruv’s forte this season and
in the two seasons he has raced - it has fetched him rich rewards.
Starting in pole position this young 5th standard student shot
into the lead and held on till the end to wind up a very successful
weekend. Another promising kid on the block, Bangalore lad Arjun
Maini from Team Meco Motorsports did well to finish second.
Krishna Mahadik of Team Mohite from Kolhapur
finished a distant third.
Earlier in
the pre-finals Dhruv Mohite, Samyak Shah
and Rayomand Banajee annexed the top
positions in the Micro Max, Junior and Senior categories respectively.
