JK Tyre Rotax Max Karting Challenge 2008
3rd round in Coimbatore this week end

Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore will once again witness the next generation of the country’s formula racers as the 3rd leg of the JK Tyre Rotax Max Karting Challenge 2008 gets underway at the Kari Motor Speedway this weekend. The challenge is still wide open as the margins separating the leaders are very slim. And with more than 35 drivers in the fray, it is bound to be yet another exciting weekend of Karting racing. The qualifying sessions will be held on Saturday, 12th and the main races on Sunday, 13th July.

Classification at the end of Round 2

The seasoned racer from Mumbai, Rayomand Banajee heads the table in the Senior category having amassed 164 points followed very closely by Kolkota lad Karan Goenka with 160 points. Promising youngster from Kolhapur and winner of round two Rounak Patil is in 3rd place with 158 points.

In the Junior Category, Kolhapur lad Parth Ghorpade has established a decent lead having amassed a total of 178 points. Samyak Shah from Mumbai and Chittesh Mandody from Kolhapur are in second and third places with 167 and 159 points respectively.

In the Micro Max class, Dhruv Mohite of Kolhapur is the leader with a tally of 89 points followed by Krishna Mahadik and Surya Raghuraman in second and third place respectively.

Now into its consecutive fourth year this event has generated excellent response. The JK Tyre Rotax Max Karting Challenge, has been conceived to provide a platform to karters to develop racing skills with high speed in the first year of single seater racing, with karts equipped with the world famous 2 stroke Rotax Max kart engines.

JK Tyre and Rotax will support the winners of the National Junior and the Senior category by providing them an opportunity to compete at the international level against the best karters in the world at the Rotax Max World Finals which will be held in Dubai later this year with more than 160 karters across 37 countries participating in the championship.
