Coimbatore : 8th
June 2008
The senior
class witnessed a very tough session as top karters from various
corners of the country fought it out for honors on race day
of the second round of the JK Tyre Rotax
Mojo Karting Challenge which was held at the Kari Motor
Speedway in Coimbatore today. The new generations of racers
were on view giving the seasoned seniors and former champions
a run for their money.
And hogging
the limelight in the senior’s category with a bit of luck
was Rounak Patil from Kolhapur. Luck also favoured
seasoned Rayomand Banajee from Mumbai to help
him capture the second place. However, It was an unfortunate
outing for the youngster from Kolkata, Karan Goenka
who after starting from pole and lead from the beginning
till the last lap misread the markers to make a wrong maneuver
to surrender the lead and finish third.

After tasting
success in Round 1, Parth Ghorpade continued
his winning run as he raced to his second successive podium
of the season in the junior category.. It was a tough duel for
the second place between Kolhapur lad Chitesh Mandody
and Samyak Shah from Mumbai. In a
thrilling finish Chitesh just squeaked ahead
to grab the second place.
It was yet
another great effort by ten-year-old Dhruv Mohite from
Kolhapur in the Micro Max class which saw him recording an extremely
comfortable win. Finishing in a distant 2nd place was his hometown
teammate Krishna Mahadik. Another promising
youngster from Chennai Surya Raghuraman finished
in third place.
