May 11, 2008 : The sweltering heat and humidity did not have any deterring effect on the enthusiasm of the new generation bike riders with around 40 competitors in the fray in the MMSC NewComers Race here in Irungattukottai Race Track, Chennai. Also in attendance was a sizable crowd with friend and relatives of the riders cheering them all the way. The races were close and well contested as the raw and inexperienced riders did their best to take the honors. Although all the races were incident free, lack of experience and over enthusiasm did result in a couple of riders falling off.

For S. Ravi it was great weekend as the young man completed a glorious double, winning both the races in the Group B 4 stroke upto 130 cc category.. It was a very close duel between Ravi and K. Jagan in both the races, but the former managed to pip Jagan to the post. Finishing third in Race 1 was S. Karthick, while K.Sathish took the 3rd place in Race 2.

The two races in Group B 2 stroke upto 165 cc were completely dominated by K.Sathish as he notched up comfortable wins. S. Ravi and Gowri Shankar finished 2nd and 3rd in Race 1. Race 2 saw N. Deepan and S. Ravi finishing 2nd and third respectively.

In the TVS Race a Bike category, Arun J Pillai and R. Srinath shared the honors winning the first and second races respectively.
