The
stage is set for the penultimate round of the UcalRolonNational
Road Racing Championship 2008 for two wheelers, approved by the
FMSCI, this weekend at the Madras Motor Race Track at Irungattukottai
near Chennai. With no substantial lead in most of the classes the
race for the championship still wide open making this weekend’s
races crucial for the championship contenders. With around 100 racers
are in the fray this weekend will the cream of the country’s
bike racers in action. Apart from the seasoned racers newcomers
have been making their presence felt. The new generation of riders
like P. Karthick, Alok Shashidhar, K. Vinodh, Shyam Shankar, P.Deva
Kumar, Sarath Kumar and many more have come up with impressive performances
giving the top names a run for their money. Also making a spectacular
comeback to bike racing in Round 3 was former champion of champions
T.K.Vishwanath - of Team Anya Racing from Bangalore - who stole
the thunder with his dominating performances. Vishwanath’s
performances will also be keenly watched. Round 3 also saw from
Team Anya making its debut in two wheeler racing. Another highlight
this weekend will be the races in the 600 cc and 1000 cc Group A
categories.
In
the expert categories at the end of Round 3, Harry Sylvester leads
in the Group D 4 stroke 165 cc class with 84 points while K.Rajini
and P.Karthick are in 2nd and 3rd places with 73 and 53 points respectively.
K.Rajini heads the table in the Group B 4 stroke 130 - 165 cc with
88 points. Harry Sylvester is in 2nd place with 72 points and P.Rajini
in 3rd place with 58 points. K. Vinodh leads with 83 points followed
by R.Deepak with 72 points and P.Rajini with 71 points in the Group
B 4 stroke 260 cc class.
In
the Intermediate class Group D 4 stroke 130 – 165 cc class,
it is Shyam Shankar in the lead with 80 points. V. Sameer is in
2nd place with 69 points while
Sudhakar
Kesavan is in 3rd place with 66 points. P. Deva Kumar is the leader
in Group C 2 stroke 130 – 165 cc class with 92 points. K.
Umesh Babu with 77 points and S.Kumar with 65 points are in 2nd
and 3rd places.
In
the Novice classes Group D 4 stroke 130 cc has Sarath Kumar leading
with a tally of 88 points followed by S. Ravi and Alok Shashidhar
with 65 and 55 points respectively. In the Group D 2 stroke 130
to 165 cc category S. Vivek Pillai heads the table with 88 points.
A. Gowrishankar and S. Vinoth are in 2nd place and 3rd places with
73 and 50 points respectively.
K.
Umesh Babu leads in the moped category with a total 96 points. R.G.Gopal
with 69 points and A. Vinoth Kumar with 36 points are in 2nd and
3rd places.
The
qualifying sessions will be held on Saturday 11th October and the
main races on Sunday 12th October.
