The round 1 and 2 of the Formula BMW Pacific was held at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia on 4-5 April 2009. Indian drivers Aditya Patel (ART) & Akhil Khushlani (Team E-Rain) participated.

Going in to round 1, Aditya was a bit worried as he had absolutely no testing and practice. It was straighaway in to the event. The Atlantic Racing Team decided go get going cautiously and Aditya qualified 10th and 11th for race1 and race 2.

Aditya finished 9th in race 1.The Race 2 start saw some mishaps but Aditya stayed clear, put his head down, and started reeling the others one by one. He drove an absolutely impeccable race, got faster every lap and finished a creditable 6th. Aditya is placed 7th in the overall classification with 5 points.

Aditya had not been able to put in any pre-season practice and testing due to lack of budget, but hopefully will now be able to put in some serious practice and testing and gear up for the next round again at the Sepang Ciruit on 22-24 May 2009.

Akhil Khushlani who participated under the Team E-Rain qualifed a creditable 7th with the timing of 2:12.904. Akhil who drove a great race finished 8th in race 1but unfortunately did not finish race 2. He is now placed 10th overall in the classification with 3 points.
