ADAC VW Polo Cup
Aditya & Ashwin @ Round 4

The round 4 of the ADAC VW Polo Cup was held between 31st July and 2nd August 2009 @ Motorsport Arena Oschersleben Circuit. This Circuit is 3.667 kilometres (2.28 mi) long race track with the width of 11 - 13 meters and elevation changes of 23 metres. The circuit is located in Oschersleben, Börde (approximately 30km from Magdeburg), Northern Germany. Its fairly flat contours create a smooth and fast circuit.

The round 4 was a two race round with one qualifying for each race. Qualifying 1 saw Ashwin in 15th place and Aditya qualifying in 17th. In the Second qualifying, Ashwin improved him timings and qualified third. Aditya suffered handling problems and qualified 23rd among 28 cars.

The Race 1 was bad luck for Ashwin, as he was imposed a drive-thru penalty for crossing the pit lane red light and after good battle with Aditya had to fall back. Aditya meanwhile fought his way with a brilliant drive to12th position, which he mainitained until the last lap, when unfortunately, he spun in to the gravel. Aditya after the race said that he just could not figure out what happened. Ashwin and Aditya were confident of good race 2.

The Race 2 was a mixed bag for both Ashwin and Aditya. Starting third on the grid, Ashwin had a good start, but in two laps, he had some over eager drivers crowding him to pass, and in the melee was pushed off the track. Ashwin receovered to fight back and finished eleventh. Aditya started well and passed four cars before the end of lap 1. He drove steadily and finished the race in 19th position.

Both Aditya and Ashwin have now gathered sufficient data to set up their cars and themselves for the next round at Nurburgrind and are confident of doing much better. Both are up against other drivers competing in the Championship for the second or third year and have to catch up especially as they are allowed only third minutes of practice before every week end. It has been really tough for our Indian driver, but they are learning fast and making an impression in the International arena.
