Chennai,
12th August 2009: The race 7 of the 9 race ADAC Volkswagen
Polo Cup will be held at Nurburgring Circuit this week between 14th
and 16th August 2009.
As
a motor-racing circuit, the Nurburgring Nordschleife is without equal.
It was once described by the famous race driver Jackie Stewart as 'The
Green Hell', due to the way the road meanders through the local woodland.
It is almost certainly the most feared, most demanding, most awe-inspiring
and yet still the most fantastic purpose-built motor-racing circuit
in the world. What has given 'The Ring', this status is its sheer size,
all 13 miles and 73 bends of it. The modern GP track is now rebuilt
is not 13 miles long, but shorter, about 5.3 km.
Our
Chennai lads, Aditya Patel and Ashwin Sundar
will have the honour of racing on this great historic circuit
in the VW Polo Cup 2009.
This
is going to be a tough round for the boys as the circuit is not easy
to learn, and very demanding on the drivers. Both drivers will have
to use all the skills they have learnt in the previous rounds to come
out on top. Besides this the competition is fierce and lap times are
bound to be very close. Twenty eight drivers are expected to compete
in the race and normally the first twenty are separated by just ONE
second.
Their
sponsors Volkswagen India, JK Tyre,
Ma-con , Amaron, will also be be looking forward to a thrilling weekend,
for sure.
Aditya
said "I am absolutely
delighted to be driving on this circuit , and am confident of doing
well as I am now even more aware of the charecteristics of the car.
I hope to qualify well."
Ashwin
who is brimming with confidence after his last qualifying said
"I hope that I will qualify well again. If I do, I
will not succumb to pressure this time", he asserted!!
indmotorsport.com
wishes both of them all the very best.
