Win is a part Ashwin Sundar’ name and he sticks to it without fail.. It was no different today as the 19 year Chennai lad raced away to record a splendid win. Another youngster hogging the limelight today was Ajay Kini for whom the winning spree which started in Round 4 continued today. And also It was a podium finish for the Rajan brothers – Sudanand and Prithveen – with the former winning the Endurance race and the latter finishing third in the Formula LGB Swift category.

Extremely hot conditions marked the commencement of the 5th and penultimate round of the 12th JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship as Race day 1 unfolded at the Madras Motor Race Track at Irrungaatukottai near Chennai today.

Back in action after missing the previous round to meet jhis international racing commitments, Ashwin Sundar of Team Speed NK Racing was back in action and carrying on from where he had left. Starting on pole, Ashwin got off as usual to a blazing start which catapulted him in to the fore front and helped build a good lead. Ashwin gave no chance to his immediate rival Gaurav Dalal of Team Red Rooster who had no alternative but to settle for a second place finish. And once again getting a podium finish by coming in third was the independent driver Saran Vikram.

With DNFs in the first three legs in the championship, Ajay Kini of Wallace Sports began his winning spree from Round 4. And today he kept up a tremendous pace in the qualifying event for the Formula LGB Swift race ahead of Sudarshana Rao of TVS Girling, who was concentrating on winning the driver’s title.
