Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship Double Glory for Ashwin Sundar, Ajay Kini & B Vijayakumar |

Chennai : September 13, 2009 Race day 2 of the fifth round of the 12th JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship turned out to be a day of double delight for Ajay Kini , B.Vijayakumar and Ashwin Sundar in the Formula LGB Swift, Super Saloon and Formula Rolon Chevrolet categories respectively. At the end of this round the championship is till wide open and the final round next month promises to be a pot boiler. Formula Rolon Chevrolet
Showing great reflexes at the start, Ashwin swiftly got in to his rhythm at the first turn and sifted through the remaining eleven corners with élan. He was seen enlarging his lead over his second placed Red Rooster driver, Gaurav Dalal. Though the third and fourth positions were changing mid way through the race, veteran Sarosh Hataria of Amaron Pro Racing with Meco managed to finish third. Ashwin returned a best lap time of 1:51.439 seconds and took 18:58.300 seconds to complete ten laps. Gaurav Dalal and Sarosh Hataria came second and third respectively. “I always enjoy racing at home. Though the competition is always amongst the well known and regular drivers and teams it is not easy to outwit well experienced drivers like Gaurav (Dalal) and Sarosh (Hataria) besides a skillful Saran Vikram” Ashwin said adding “I will be competing in the next three races and win the championship. I have won all the other categories of JK Tyre national events. I am keen to annex the title to my kitty”. Formula LGB Swift TVS Girling’s Sudarshana Rao of Bangalore has enhanced his chances of winning the Driver’s Championship title in the Formula LGB Swift Category having so far tallied 70 points. In the second leg of Round 5 today, Sudarshana Rao came third behind winner Ajay Kini and second placed Goutham Parekh of Wallace Sports, who like yesterday made it a start to finish affair. With Kini finishing the 10 laps in 19:57.547 seconds, Parekh took 20.05.791 secs, while Sudarshana Rao clocked 20:06 .756 secs. < read more... >
