Grand finale of 12th JK Tyre FMSCI National
Racing Championship 2009 on October 3 & 4
Chennai, September 30, 2009: JK Tyre the name synonymous with motorsports in India is set to bring the excitement and opportunity for the budding racers in the country. On the helm of the Grand Finale of 12th JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship 2009, Mr. Kris Nissen, Director – Motorsports, Volkswagen and Mr. Jeorg Meuller, Volkswagen India Head, are visiting India to finalise their plans for Polo Cup. VW Polo Cup is a touring car concept which has helped the entry level racing around the world. On the other hand, the JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship is headed to bring more excitements and nail biting finals ever. With five rounds completed, none of the racers in the three formula car categories has got a lead which makes his place firm for the win. It will need an extremely tough and spirited super effort from those who are in contention for the title. The races are scheduled for October 3 and 4 at the Madras Motor Race Track in Irungaatukottai near Chennai. The qualifying sessions and one race in each category will be held on Saturday and the remaining races on Sunday. Having annexed national titles in both Formula LGB Swift and Formula LGB Hyundai classes in the earlier championship, Ashwin Sundar is keen on adding the title in the premium Formula Rolon Chevrolet category. Ashwin has been one of the top contenders for this title. After having missed the fourth round due to his international commitment during the current season, Ashwin returned with a bang in the penultimate round to record two facile wins enabling him to regain a slender championship lead. Ashwin now heads the table with 52 points. Last year’s champion Gaurav Dalal from team Red Rooster is breathing down Ashwin’s neck with a tally of 50 points while independent racer Saran Vikram is in third place with 46 points. With 3 races in this category still to go, it promises to be a action packed pot boiler as the three way tussle for the champion’s title in the decider gets underway. With just 2 and 4 points separating the top three, the championship continues to be wide open. Team Red Rooster heads the team championship tables with 101 points, followed by speed NK Racing with 68 points. < read more... > |
