Final Round of the 5th JK Tyre FMSCI Junior Cup
on December 5-6, 2009

Chennai, December 3, 2009: The curtains will come down this year for the final round of the fifth edition of JK Tyre FMSCI Junior Cup on December 5-6, 2009 at Sriperumbudur, Chennai. The young stars will race on Formula Maruti cars. The Junior Cup, which is jointly organized, by Madras Motor Sports Club and JK Tyre, has generated tremendous response from aspiring young drivers from different parts of the country like, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Guwahati etc

A new crop of aspiring young drivers have emerged after the first two rounds. With the trio from Wallace Sports Vikash Anand, Steve Hodges and K.Vinoth already in the top three slots in the hunt for the cup title. A consolidated and a consistent effort will ensure either of the young stars the title.

At the end of the first two rounds it is the very consistent 15 year old lad from Chennai, Vikash Anand who is in the championship lead with a tally of 44 points. Vikash finished first in one race and second in four races to achieve his currently placing. Mumbai lad Steve Hodges’s excellent performance in the second round gave him enough points to move up to the second place in the championship ratings. Steve has 38 points under his belt currently. It was a weekend of mixed fortunes for K.Vinoth who is currently placed third in the points table with 29 points. Vinoth started with a bang in Round 1 by winning both the races. However he could not repeat his performance in Round 2 as his vehicle had problems the entire day. Despite the shortcomings Vinoth managed to put a valiant effort to finish in the top three in one race of Round 2.

PARTHIV SURESHWAREN HEADS TO VALENCIA FOR FORMULA TWO

Parthiv Sureshwaren, A1GP Team India rookie driver for the last 2-3 years has recently sealed a deal to ensure his upcoming racing year with the all new, well reputed Formula Two Championship. Parthiv will join the list of drivers who will contest the two day Formula Two winter test in Valencia on the 3rd and 4th of December. Parthiv will be the second Indian to ever participate in the FIA Formula Two.

Parthiv a fitness fanatic, and another Chennai-born, international level race driver went through Loyola College, Chennai, while managing to keep his passion for racing in clear view. He followed this up by graduating from the Silverstone Racing School in England.

His first tryst with success came in 1998, when he was just 17 years old and won the Indian National Championship for the Esteem Saloon Cars. The next year Parthiv went on to win 8 out of the 10 races in the Indian National Formula Maruti Championship, while also participating in the British Formula Ford Winter Series. He won the overall 2nd and rookie of the year at the Formula Asia Championship.
