The
Western India Automobile Association (WIAA), celebrating
its 90th year, has planned for a Vintage & Classic
Car Rally in association with Vintage and Classic
Car Club of India (VCCCI) on Sunday, the 5th April
2009 at the Trident, Nariman Point, Mumbai. More than
150 rare Vintage and Classic Cars & Motor cycles
have entered the fray.
Dr.
Vijay Mallya’s 1903 Humber will be flagged off
first by Shri Y. P. Trivedi, M.P., President of of
WIAA at 9 AM.
Veteran
Rallyist Akshay Singhania with Bob Rupani experienced
navigator and Maharaja Manvendra Singh Barwani in
their Mercedes 300 of 1956 are expected to give a
tough fight to Yuvraj Himanshu Gondal a known Rallyist
in a 1958 Mercedes 300 SL which the Maharaja of Gondal
used to race in the olden days at Juhu.
Four
Rolls Royce cars of Hormusji Cama, Fali Dhondy and
Dr. Vijay Mallya will be a treat to watch.
Dr.
Pandit and family who have been owing their Ford 1928
will be again vying for the Period costume prize.
Sachin
Dabholkar in a 1933 Austin Harley, Samir Kadam in
his Rover will be the others to watch.
Cars
from Jaipur, Pune and other places have entered to
celebrate WIAA’s 90th Year.
Trident,
Nariman Point, is the host for the Prize distribution
which will be held at the Regal Room.
