A
hot and sunny day accompanied by gusty winds heralded day 1 of
the second round of the 12th JK TYre FMSCI National Racing
Championship at Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore today.
With almost 70 racers in the fray, the cream of Indian formula
racing was seen in action as they fought heated battles in hot
weather conditions.
India’s
promising international youngster who is already making waves
in the Volkswagen Races, Ashwin Sundar of Team
NK Racing clinched Race 1 of the premium Formula Rolon
Chevrolet category. Starting on pole, Ashwin blazed
way to build up a good lead and despite a hot chase from Akhil
Khushlani of Team Red Rooster Racing, ensured
that he held on till the last to begin this round on a winning
note. Finishing third was Akhil’s team mate Amrittrajit
Ghosh.

Narendran from
Team Rams Racing took the honors today in the
Formula LGB Hyundai endurance race as day 1 of the 12th
JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship 2009 unfolded
at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. It was an exciting session
of racing skills and speed making the 45 minute a thrilling affair
all the way. Narendran sealed the win by completing
36 laps with a timing of 45 minutes, and 59 seconds. In 2nd place
was Sudanand Rajan from Team Wallace
Sports who completed laps with a timing of 46 minutes
04 seconds. The third place was taken by Narendran”s team
mate Akhil Devarag with 36 laps in 46 minutes
and 43 seconds.
