The first round of the FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship for 2 wheelers viz. MAK Rally of Coimbatore will be held at Coimbatore on June 20 and 21, 2009.

MAK LUBRICANTS from BHARAT PETROLEUM will be the title sponsor for this round of the FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship for 2 wheelers.

The total distance of the rally will be 115.23 kms. There shall be two special stages viz. Textool (14.13 kms) and Premier (14.50 kms) run 3 times, totalling 85.89 kms.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bharat Raj, CEO IMG Sports who are the Promoters of this event along with PSP Pro-Sports Promotion said, “These stages are rated as the best gravel stages in the Indian Rally circuit not only by the competitors but also enjoyable for spectators to watch, with excellent safety measures in place. We are providing shelters for the spectators to watch some solid action up close from safe places.”

The cream of best rally riders astride their TVS, Yamaha, Hero Honda, Honda bikes will be seen in action in this first round of the National Championship. Organisers are expecting 40 entries from various parts of the country.

Pradeep H.K. from TVS Racing, the reigning National Champion for the year 2008 said :

“Its good that rallies are back in action after 8 years. It is fun to ride the rally. As a kid I used to watch all the top riders flying on their bikes and I always wanted to compete in rallying. My dream came true in 2008 and thanks to the FMSCI, I am the National Rally Champion 2008. I really like the Coimbatore rally stages as it is fast with sweeping corners. I will be missing the first round this year as I have injured my hand in practice, but will be back for the rest of the rounds. I just wish all the riders very best.”
