For any student of Sacred Heart Matriculation Higher Secondary School also known as Church Park Convent the annual sports day is sure to figure high on the list of the most vivid and colorful memories of school life. Blessed with its own dedicated field, a true advantage in these times of limited space and crowded schools, sports has always been an important part of school life.

And then Sports Day was never just about sports – it was a festive reflection of the spirit of the school – a spirit which every alumnus takes away – whatever we do must be our best. It is therefore hardly surprising that the ongoing centenary celebrations of the school, has an element of sport in it – the Sacred Heart Alumni( Church Park ) Centenary Car Rally.

The event organized by Madras Motor Sports Club will be run on a Time, Speed and Distance (TSD) format and will cover a distance of approximately 60 kms in about two and half hours within Chennai city and its suburbs.

Last date for registration is February 6, 2009. On the same day at 6 pm, a briefing session will be held in the school premises. Attendance is compulsory for atleast one member of each team. There will be surprise gifts for the winners and gift hampers for the participants. All rules and details will be provided at this briefing.

The rally will be flagged off on Sunday February 8, 2009 at 9.30 am from the school premises on Anna Salai by the Chief Guests, Mr. Narain Karthikeyan - India ’s only F- 1 Racer and famous film actor Mr.Arjun. The rally is open to all with two categories of participants -1. General category and 2. exclusively for past and present students of the school. The prize distribution will be held the same day at 3 pm.
